Traders at Oyigbo cry out

Traders at Mbano Camp, Oyigbo local government area in Rivers state, Nigeria, have appealed to the government for road reconstruction.

The road there has been in a terrible condition for years now and it seems like the government has not considered doing anything about it.

These traders seized the opportunity during a press visit to the area to let out their woes as the road condition has affected and crippled their businesses since potential customers have no access to the area.

We hope that the government will do something about it.

The Nigerian Air Force deploys more fighter jets to combat NDA

The Nigerian Air Force has deployed additional aircraft to Niger Delta region against militancy, economic sabotage and all forms of criminalities. A statement by NAF reads: “The Nigerian Air Force has deployed additional aircraft to the Niger Delta in support of the military operations code named “Operation Pulo Shield” against militancy, economic sabotage and all forms of criminalities in the south-south region of the country. “The deployment was necessitated by the recent spate of attacks on the Nation’s oil and gas installations by the new militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA). “The additional platforms, comprising fighter aircraft, helicopter gunship and surveillance aircraft, are intended to enhance the capability of the NAF to undertake offensive air operations and intelligence gathering in support of the surfaces forces. “Since the recent deployment the NAF has increased air operations around critical infrastructure in Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ib

Boko Haram releases new video of Chibok girls

Boko Haram on Sunday released a video of the girls allegedly kidnapped from Chibok in April 2014, showing some who are still alive and claiming others died in air strikes. The video is the latest release from embattled Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, who earlier this month denied claims that he had been replaced as the leader of the jihadist group. “They should know that their children are still in our hands,” said a man whose face was covered by a turban in the video posted on YouTube. “There is a number of the girls, about 40 of them, that have been married by the decision of Allah,” said the man in the 11-minute video, which shows girls with veils sitting on the ground and standing in the background. “Some of them have died as a result of aerial bombardment.” The mass kidnapping of 276 Chibok schoolgirls in April 2014 provoked global outrage and brought unprecedented attention on the Boko Haram conflict, in which at least 20,000 people have been killed since 2009
