A 17-year-old secondary school student, Muyideen Lawal, who allegedly defiled a three-year-old girl, was on Wednesday brought before a Surulere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. The accused, who resides at No.1, Temitope St., Ajangbadi on Lagos-Badagry Expressway, is standing trial on a charge of defilement. The prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 21 at 8.00 p.m. at his uncle’s house. “Muyideen lured the little girl from the mother’s shop which is an extension of his uncle’s house. “The little girl asked for N10 from the accused, who lives with his uncle. Instead of giving her the money, he lured her into the house with a promise to give her food. “In the process, he dragged her into his room and defiled her,’’ Osayande said. A fifty-nine year old man is currently cooling of in the police net after defiling a girl of six years. Parading the suspect, Monday Ekpade in Asaba, the Delta State Police Command spokesman, SP Celestina Kalu, said the suspect was arrested at Agbor following a report by the girl’s step father. The stepfather became aware of the act when he questioned the girl over some body changes.  He said the girl revealed that she was defiled on three different occasions by the suspect, who inserted his finger into the her genital. The suspect while fielding questions from journalists confessed to the crime but attributed the crime to the influence of the devil. He further confessed that he couldn’t penetrate the girl so he had to use his fingers. According to the PPRO, the suspect would soon be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

A 47-year-old man, Emmanuel Magbatie, has been arrested for allegedly defiling an 18-month-old girl (names withheld) in Owutu axis of Ikorodu, Lagos State. This came barely a week after the Lagos State Government sought compulsory psychiatric test for rape and other domestic violence offenders in the country. Vanguard gathered that Magbatie, an artisan, who reside in same building as the victim’s parents, defiled the girl last week Wednesday. It was learned that the victim was rushed to Ikorodu General Hospital by her parents for treatment and to ascertain the impact of the act on her. Vanguard investigation revealed that a day after, the victim was taken to Mirabel Centre at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja, for test to help the child overcome issues that may arise after.
