The wife of a chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming Saturday October 8 election in Ogun State, Mrs. Kudirat Balogun, has been abducted. She was abducted at her home on Sunday by four gunmen. Kudirat’s husband, Gafar Balogun, is eyeing the chairmanship seat of Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state and was not around when the gunmen struck. The man who named his dog Buhari, Joachim Iroko, aka Joe, was remanded on Monday at the Ibara Prison following his arraignment at the Ota Magistrate Court 2, Ogun State. He was charged to court by the police with conduct likely to cause breach of the peace, in a case with suit number MOT/617c/2016. The prosecutor, Inspector Itaita Ebibomini, said the accused committed the offence on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the Hausa section of Ketere Market in Sango-Ota in the Ota Magisterial District. The prosecutor told the court that the offence was punishable under Section 249 (d) of Criminal Law of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2016. The accused, who was represented by a counsel, U. Michael, pleaded not guilty to the charge. 9 persons killed by gunmen in Imo State

No fewer than nine people have been reportedly killed after suspected cult members attacked Assa community in the Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State. The victims were killed in a week-long attack which started last Monday. Indications emerged, yesterday, that the 50-year-old businesswoman, whose discomposing body was found in her apartment last week at the Victoria Garden City, VGC, was allegedly murdered by her gate man, following an argument over the latter’s salary. The deceased, Mabel Okafor, who lived alone in her palatial duplex at House J68B, Close 9, VGC, Ajah, had no domestic worker except the gate man. The gate man, with an undisclosed identity, was said to have resumed work about two months ago. He was reportedly brought by the deceased’s former gate man. Boko Haram  The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar has said that about 300 Boko Haram members were killed by the Nigerian Air Force in a raid in Borno State. Abubakar said this on Monday in Bama, while addressing men and officers of the Nigerian Air Force. “I cannot but say thank you. I am very happy to note that since  August 16 to now, you undertook extensive air operations and we were able to deal with these terrorists trying to make life difficult for our people. “I want to say from the briefing that I received from the Air component commander that I am satisfied with what you have done. “Of particular note is the operation you conducted on the 19th of this month, it was a night operation and we were very lucky to deal with these guys (insurgents) who had en-massed and were planning an attack . 80yr old woman arrested in possession of dead baby

An 80-year-old woman, Kuburat Ayinde, has been arrested by the police after she was caught with a dead baby boy in the Oshodi under bridge area of Lagos State. The woman had allegedly abducted the baby alive from Abeokuta, Ogun State, and strapped him to her back. The infant, however, died before she arrived in Lagos. The octogenarian was arrested on Sunday. Newsmen gathered that Ayinde wanted to board a bus to Ikorodu from Oshodi at about 2pm on Sunday when a commuter noticed that she was fidgeting. The man and other passers-by were said to have asked her about the whereabouts of the baby’s mother, but she could not give a convincing reply.

For the second time in three weeks, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has received an express order from President Muhammadu Buhari to explore for oil in the North. This time, the President directed the national oil firm to commence exploration activities in the Benue Trough. As Nigerian troops intensifies fighting to rid the north east of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists, three members of the group were on Monday killed by soldiers in separate operations while a total of 88 captives held hostage by the group were discovered and rescued in the operations.
