Kidnap kingpin killed by soldiers in Abia State



Soldiers attached to the 144 Battalion, Asa ,Ukwa West council area, have shot dead a notorious kidnapper along the Opobo –Azumini highway, Abia state.



Luck was said to have ran out on the kidnap kingpin identified as Chisom Aloysius Enyinnaya, a.k.a IPO, as his gang engaged soldiers in a gun duel. It was learned that the robbers on sighting the soldiers opened fire on them at Akpaa Mbato community. In the ensuing gunfire, Enyinnaya was shot dead while other members of his gang escaped with bullet wounds.

Enyinnaya and members of his gang have been on the wanted list of the security agencies following the increasing attack on motorists plying the Opobo- Azumini highway.

Narrating how the ring leader was killed, military sources at the Battalion told newsmen that the gang leader was shot dead by soldiers on patrol along Opobo-Azumini highway who were alerted to the activities of the gang said to be robbing crayfish dealers on their way back from Oron, Akwa Ibom State.

Some of the traders and their bus driver, Ndifreke Sunday, who were robbed by the gang as their vehicle slowed down on a bad portion of the highway, commended the soldiers for coming to their rescue.

They lamented that the deplorable nature of the highway have made it possible for robbers to always attack motorists and appealed to the state and federal governments to rehabilitate the Opobo -Azumini highway, stressing that if the road was in good condition, the hoodlums wouldn’t have caught up with their bus.
