NEW ATTACK BY MILITANTS

Militants have continued their bombing campaign of oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta region with another attack on a facility suspected to belong to Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).

Niger Delta Militants have vowed to carry out more attacks on oil and gas installations in defiance to the federal government’s order for a cease fire.
The latest attack, according to Vanguard occurred around Ogidigben, Warri south west local in Delta state, on Thursday evening, June 9.

A source told Vanguard that the explosion “occurred along the Chanomi Creek around Ogidigben area about 8.00 pm.

“Though, I cannot give you concrete details of the situation at the scene of incident for now. We got reports from our field office that a loud explosion was heard at the location, which was followed by a huge ball of fire,” he said.

Confirming the bomb attack on the oil facility, a community leader said: “My people called to tell me that there was an explosion, they blew up the manifold at Ogidigben and they are going there now to see what actually happened.”

Though no group has claimed responsibility for this latest attack, there are speculations that Niger Delta Avengers who have carried out previous attacks may be behind this recent attack.
