Considering the present circumstance regarding the price of petrol in Nigeria which is as high as 250naira per litre, the desire for cheaper and yet safer alternatives becomes a thought. The good news is that it no longer has to be a thought as there are a lot of alternatives out of there such as;
1. Solar panels
2. Wind mills
3. Diesel
4. Gas.
Solar panels and wind mills both have there pitfalls as regards sizing and cost of installation hence, diesel becomes the right choice if you own a diesel powered generator.
Diesel generators on the other hand are expensive to purchase and if you don't have one, using gas becomes the solution to your power problem.
When I say using gas, I mean cooking gas, yes, the same gas you cook with. Cooking gas can be used with your petrol generator to produce electricity but first, you need to install a special carburetor built for this purpose. Such carburetors are called 'DUAL FUEL CARBURETORS'.
These carburetors are designed to handle both petrol and gas combustion for electricity generation. The images below are pictures of the kit i installed on my 2.5kva generator.

This is not just amazing because it works but i do own one
It is a known fact that petrol cannot be safely and indefinitely stored in large quantity. You might be tempted to buy and store them in gallons when the prices are down but such a thought is hazardous and could indeed cause a fire outbreak so easily. Petrol also degrades when left unused for a long period of time, making such a thought wasteful.
