FRESH ATTACK: Niger Delta Avengers blow up Agip and Shell pipelines

There is tension in the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Avengers in their determination to get the government to meet their demands, have blown up trunk lines belonging to Agip and Shell. NDA struck early Saturday, May 28, in Bayelsa state, blowing up trunk lines belonging to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) and Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). Vanguard reports that the group in a tweet revealed that its strike teams, in the early hours of today blew up trunk lines belonging to NAOC and SPDC. “At About 2.15am on Saturday the @NDAvengers blow up Nembe 1, 2 and 3 Brass to Bonny Trunk Line belonging to Agip and Shell,” the NDA stated in a tweet. The NDA has threatened to do something that will shock the whole world. CONDOM REMOVED FROM WOMAN'S APPENDIX

A 26-year-old woman from Cameroon has had a condom surgically removed from her appendix, after swallowing it while performing oral sex on her boyfriend two weeks earlier. The unusual case, described in the Journal of Medical Case Reports, has received a great deal of interest around the world. According to report author Doctor Carlson B. Sama, from the surgery department at Cameroon's University of Buea, the woman came into the clinic complaining of pain and tenderness in her lower abdomen. As reported in the journal, the pain had been increasing for a few days and conventional painkillers had shown no effect. Suspecting appendicitis, the doctors conducted an ultrasound scan which revealed a swollen appendix and fluid build-up. An emergency surgery began, and surgeons successfully removed the appendix with no complications. BRAZIL: 30 men rape 16yr old and post pics and videos on twitter

Rio de Janeiro: Brazilian police say they are hunting for more than 30 men suspected of participating in the gang-rape of a 16-year-old over the weekend. The attackers posted pictures and videos of the assault on the unconscious teenager on Twitter. Police said on Thursday that the girl was assaulted by armed men on Saturday, May 21, while visiting a shantytown on the west side of Rio de Janeiro. She told authorities she regained consciousness Sunday morning, May 22. In her statement to the police, the victim said that the moment she woke up, she saw nearly 30 men surrounding her with weapons in their hand. Before she could think of anything, they attacker her and brutally raped her till she passed out. The UN women's rights agency condemned the cases after the video was posted on Twitter apparently by one of the rapists who boasted about the assault. UNITED AIRLINES SET TO HALT FLIGHTS TO NIGERIA BY JUNE 30th

Chicago-based United Airlines is the latest casualty of Nigeria’s economic slowdown as the company has announced that it will stop flights to the country after June 30th. A United spokesman cited a “downturn in the energy sector” as well as difficulties with repatriation of its dollar profits amid tight foreign currency controls by the Nigerian government. United, the third largest US carrier by revenue, currently flies from Houston to Lagos on a daily basis. Since the turn of the year, Nigeria has struggled with dwindling foreign reserves as a result of a drop in the price of oil, its main revenue source. To curtail outflow of foreign exchange, the government put in place strict controls, including limiting repatriation of dollars out of the country. Once upon a time a wife left home to visit her family. The husband decided to have some fun and brought his lover home. They stayed up all night. He bought her some flowers and they had a romantic dinner with candles plus much fun in bed. In the morning he bid her goodbye and started to clean the house. He checked every corner of it. MILITANT ATTACK: CHEVRON's main electricity pipeline blown up

Militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, says it has bombed the main pipeline supplying gas that provides electricity to the Escravos tank farm in Delta state owned by Chevron. The militants who have renew their onslaught against oil facilities made this known via its Twitter account, @NDAvengers. The group said their action was because Chevron’s refused to listen to its May 12 warning not to fix a major crude pipeline blown up by the group early in the month. But they did not disclose if the latest attack led to human casualties. Meanwhile, the leaders of the Itsekiri ethnic group in Niger Delta area, Delta state, have condemned the activities of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) operating in the area. BOAT MISHAP: 27 rescued, 1 dead in Lagos

One person was, yesterday, confirmed dead and 27 others injured when a 30-seater commercial boat identified as HMS 1, capsized on Ikorodu waterways. The boat capsized about 400 meters away from its take-off point,  Origin Jetty, at Ikorodu, when it  reportedly collided with a log abandoned on the waterways by  sawmill operators, at about 9.55 a.m. It was learned the deceased drowned immediately the  Victoria Island  bound boat capsized behind Dangote Company,  Ebutte Ikorodu, while the other 27 passengers were reportedly saved by the efforts of the  Emergency Rescue Team from being drowned. Residents blamed the accident on over-loading and over speeding on the part of the operator, arguing that the fatality could have been averted if the boat was not on high speed. At least five communities of Ladin Buta near Khaddamari village of Jere local government area of Borno state have been attacked by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect. Jere Council headquarters is located in North-East, just about 7 km drive from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. According to reliable sources and fleeing residents, the militants were armed with AK47 rifles and petrol bombs including Improvised Explosive Devices. The insurgents invaded the communities around 7pm on Tuesday, May 24, and set ablaze many houses, killing 13 residents and inflicting injuries on scores of others. A policeman attached to Jere Division, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the deadly attack and destruction of houses in the area. He said he was at his duty post when they received a distress call that suspected members of the Boko Haram sect had invaded the surrounding communities of Khaddamari. A tricycle(keke) rider identified as Johnbull Dike is presently being wanted by the police in Lagos following reports that he impregnated his 12-year-old niece. Following the pregnancy, he was said to have connived with his wife, Happiness, to carry out an abortion on the young girl after it emerged that they could not hide the secret of her pregnancy. TOMATO: Nigerian Governor declares state of emergency on tomatoes

Following the invasion of a tomato pest trending in Nigeria, Governor El-Rufai has declared state of emergency on tomatoes in Kaduna State. He said about 200 farmers in only three local government areas in the state lost one billion Naira in the last one month. Speaking at a Press Conference through the Commissioner for Agriculture in Kaduna, he said that some officials of the ministry had already been sent to Kenya to liaise with experts and return with the best way of fixing the situation. He said: “I want to say that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has declared a state-of-emergency on tomatoes in the state. This is as a result of invasion of the crops by a pest named tomato blight, botanically known as Tuta Absoluta. The governor said that 80% of tomato farms have been ravaged by an exotic pest, called tomato blight (Tuta Absoluta). GOVERNOR FAYOSE: War against Fulani herdsmen

Following the killing of two persons in Ekiti by Fulani herdsmen, the Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared war on herdsmen in the state. Speaking yesterday, May 23 when he paid a courtesy visit to the families of the dead, Fayose promised to raise N2,5 million for the families of the dead and another N2.5 million for local hunters to defend the communities against the herdsmen. “Before leaving you today, I will raise for you (hunters) #2.5m, Secondly, I will raise #2.5m again for the affected families,” Fayose said. National Executive Council of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has finally suspended the three-day-old protest and strike action it embarked on over arbitrary hike of electricity tariff and pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS) from N86.50 to N145 per litre. Following a statement issued by the Kwara APC Publicity Secretary, Sulyman Buhari, on Saturday May 21, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ishola Balogun- Fulani and Secretary of the party, Bode Adekanye have been freed. According to Buhari, the duo was rescued by the Kogi State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies at about 6.30pm on Saturday. No ransom was paid. He added that the freed party chiefs would spend the night in Lokoja and return to Ilorin Sunday (today). He said the collaborative efforts and synergy between the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the country led to the release of the duo.
